this table is not solid
it is made up of millions of tiny atoms
the government is not solid
it is made up of hundreds of tiny men
it does us all a disservice to talk about ‘the government’
as if it were something solid
as if it were something not human
as if it were anything other than a bunch of people coming from their own backgrounds and experiences, definitely always from a place of privilege.
None of them are monsters, but their unified dismissal of individual human lives for the sake of their idea of a larger whole enables them to do monstrous things.
It is not hard to imagine how people can get to that point, if we just look at the ways that we act in our own lives. Our own paranoia, our own greed. Just extrapolate that, add in a genetically handed down colonistic mindset, and it all becomes clearer and more complicated than a solid piece of wood.
All of the wants and needs and values and shortcomings of all of those people who make up that government become the wants and needs and values and shortcomings of that government.
There is no conspiracy. Just physics.
